Peanut is 11 months

Hello, beautiful girl.

“Is that a puppy?  Can I pet the puppy?  Can I have that toy?  Oh, were you talking to me?”

Umm, yes.  Yes, I was.  Anyways, I can’t believe that you’re almost 1, my little girl.

“Hi mom! Do you want to play peek-a-boo?  I’m really good at it! Watch me! Watch me, mama!”

Peanut, I’m trying to tell you something here.

“Can I have your iPhone, mom?  Can I?  Please, mama.  I want to play a game!”

P, just hang on a minute.  I’m talking here!

“But I waaaaaaaaant the iPhone!!!!!!”

Alright, kid.  Just forget it.

“I love you, mama.”

I love you too, kid.  I love you too….

Here’s what our 11th month together taught us:

  • It’s inevitable.  You’re becoming a toddler.  Although you’re not quiet walking yet, the way you’re interacting with the world around you has changed significantly.  You’re really starting to get an understanding of how things around you work and, unfortunately for us, how to get your way (usually by screaming or crying).
  • You’re really start playing with your toys.  You no longer just pick them up or shake them, but seem to understand how they work.  You put the balls into the toys they belong in, you stack the rings on posts (sometimes even in the right order!), you answer the phone by putting it to your ear, and drive your little trains around the playroom.
  • You’re become the fastest crawler on the planet (I kid you not).  This is especially true when you see something that you’re not allowed to have within each (i.e. the dog food).
  • You’re also one of the smartest kids on this planet (I’m not biased here).  You know that you’re not allowed to press the Wii console power button, but you always put your finger near it and watch for our reaction.  The other day daddy told you “No” when you tried to throw the iPhone and you immediately crawled over to the Wii console and pressed the power button.  Disciplining you is going to be a challenge.
  • Lately instead of just observing you’ve taken to pointing and saying “ah?” to pretty much everything around you.
  • At the completion of bath time your daddy puts your toys away and you actually hand them to him one by one.  It’s one of the cutest things.
  • You’re still a really good eater, but you’ve gotten much pickier about what you like and don’t like.  You absolutely love peas, broccoli, cheese, and yogurt.  Some of your favorite dishes rights now are quiche, pasta with meat sauce, and soup.
  • This month you’ve also started snuggles with stuffed animals, especially your two bears – pink bear and white bear.  To say that this is just about the cutest thing in the whole wide world would be an understatement.
We love you, our little Peanut butter.
We love your good days, your cranky days, and your sleepy days.
We love the way your laugh, exclaim, and yell.
We love your strong personality and the way you seem to have an opinion on everything around you.
We even love the way you keep growing, even if it does cause mommy’s heart to tear in two.

She is just so beautiful and growing so much! Hang in there, Kat…you’ll survive her first birthday! She will always be your baby girl, no matter how big she gets. It’s so exciting to see Peanut taking the world by storm!

She DOES look so much more grown up this month! What exciting changes. Definitely the smartest lil girl I’ve heard of.
