iPhone dump and the week recap

Let’s talk about our week.

First of all, my New Year Resolution to get fit is off to a pretty great start.  This week I woke up at 5:45am Monday through Thursday and worked out!  Since I’m just starting out, I’m walking for about 25-30 minutes and then doing 3 sets of 30 crunches, 10 push ups, and 20 squats.

The hardest part about working out in the morning is not quitting to start cleaning.  It seems like there is a list of never-ending things to do around this place and it takes every ounce of my being not to jump off the treadmill and start picking up, dusting, or washing the dishes.  I’ve been telling myself that that list won’t get shorter and that with a full time job and a kid, there will never be enough time for me unless I make time.  And so, every morning I make some time for me.

I’ve also started eating healthier – cutting out my daily bagels or muffins for breakfast and substituting some yogurt, fruit and granola.  Honestly?  That’s way tastier anyways!

As for Peanut, she’s growing right in front of our eyes.  Each day Jon and I look at one another in disbelief as we watch her get bigger, stand up on her own, and take those first steps.  It’s amazing and hard, all at the same time.

And let’s not forget Travis.  He’s been walking with me on the treadmill in the morning, which he absolutely loves!  Usually Jon lets him outside around 6am when he wakes up and then lets him run downstairs where my treadmill is.  Travis circles around until I pause, get off, leash him and put him on the treadmill with me.  He prances like a little yorkie that he is.  It’s actually a pretty great thing because with this weather, we haven’t taken him for a decent (or any) walk in weeks.

Comments

  1. way to go on getting healthy. I’m trying to do better at watching the carbs I eat since I’m pregnant and it’s HARD! Keep it up :)

  2. That is too hilarious that Travis walks with you!

  3. Good for you getting in 4 workouts! You did better than me this week.

  4. Good for you with the workouts! It’s so important to give yourself that “me” time and if you can keep the pup involved its even better! another great breakfast to try is wheat toast with almond butter. SO DELICIOUS!

  5. Love the photos… You’ve inspired me to get walking!!

  6. Ha – I’d love to see a dog on a treadmill! Also, small dogs must be a totally different ballgame than bigger one. My lab would never survive a day with fewer than 2 walks. Today she did 9 miles and is still antsy!

    • Emily- yorkies definitely don’t require NEARLY as much as a lab (they’re apartment dogs), but my dog also has the run of our big yard.

  7. I’m impressed! As soon as our Peanut figures out how to sleep through the night, I might attempt to work out in the morning, too. You can be my inspiration!
