If you follow me on Instagram, you know that Peanut has been sick with a pretty nasty head and chest cold. Well, as is common with young kids in the household, as are both of us.
Let me tell you that no matter how old I am, when I get sick the first thing that I want is my mommy. Followed closely by a hot cup of tea, preferably made by my mommy. Unfortunately for me, my parents don’t live nearby so I have to settle for taking care of myself and my own kid.
Having a sick kid is pretty horrible – she cries a lot and we can’t seem to figure out how to help her. Her cough takes her breath away and she eye-balls me as if asking for my help. But baby Tylenol? That stuff is incredible. Within 20 minutes of a small dose, Peanut is back to her playful self, dragging her blanket or bear around the house, chasing the dog.
Being sick while taking care of a sick toddler is almost as bad – sure I know how to help myself, but there is no rest while you’re either calming a crying baby or chasing one around. And adult cold medicine? Well, that stuff doesn’t even compare! Honestly, why can’t they just make adult cold medicine work like the baby stuff?
So here’s to a quick recovery in the King household and to discovering how to make adult cold medicine as effective as Baby Tylenol.

awww poor peanut! knock on wood, our peanut has never been sick once since his arrival to this world. i dread the day it happens. feel better soon peanut!
Adult cold medicine isn’t as effective because your body is used to medication. Babies have never had anything in their systems so any small amount of meds is like a miracle.
I know why, I just want it to be.
Poor Peanut!!!
And poor you!!!
I can’t figure out why Dayquil can’t come up with a better tasting medicine! I mean come on! I take a swig of it and it’s all I can do to keep it down.
Get to feeling better real soon!
I am so sorry that y’all are under the weather – it’s the worst! I am hoping tubes did the trick for Thatcher but only time will tell. We are sick and tired of being sick and tired in our house!
Poor Peanut! And Poor Kat!
The best adult cold medecine I have found isn’t even medecine! It’s plenty of Vitamin C. It’s my mom’s remedy & it works every time:
Basically hot water (not boiling because if it’s boiled it kills the vitamin c), lemon juice and honey to sweeten it. And throw in some soluble dispirin tablets, or whatever the equivalent is in America. After a day of taking them, you will feel a LOT better! If I’ve a bad cold I’ll have 3 or 4 in a day, or if I feel one coming on usually having one drink and an early night will do the trick!
oh poor Peanut, and you! it must be terrible to feel sick and taking care of sick baby. My mom always recommends B12 – gives you energy to get through the day and for the body to go through a fast recovery. good luck and hope you both feel better!
Oh no! We’re battling something similar but (thankfully) it’s hitting us worse than the baby. Hope you all feel better soon and recover quickly. Chicken soup, anyone?
Poor cuddle bug….
So sorry you are both under the weather. We have been battling a cold/sinus something the past two weeks. Our is just allergies and sinuses acting up with the weather changing back and forth. I have had good luck with Mucinex D. You have to buy it behind the counter of the pharmacy (in Arkansas), but it works well for me.
Hoping you both are feeling better soon!
Ughh amen! We’ve been fighting the exact same thing at our house for a week now. I can definitely relate to not knowing what to do to make her happy, it’s heartbreaking
Hope you all feel better soon!
Poor thing. We have been dealing with the sickies in our house too- ME included. Not fun. Hope she is better soon!
