You greet us every single morning with a smile.
Our routine begins…Pediasure, snuggling in our bed, Saturday morning cartoons.
“Hi, dad. You up?”
It’s Saturday and the beginning of our vacation and the holidays.
We take it easy, slowly getting ready while you entertain yourself. Then we all get dressed to head out to Kid City in Middletown, CT.
You’ve gotten really good at entertaining yourself, especially if you’re allowed to sit on our bed.
You’re also incredible at entertaining us.
After a 30 minute drive, we arrive at Kid City and off you go.
We’ve been coming to this place since you were about 10 months old and it’s so much fun to watch you get more and more out of all the activities.
At 11.30 we’re all hungry so we head across the street and grab a bite together. We’ve been working on you sitting through a full meal both at home and while we’re out and it’s totally paying off. You happily entertained yourself and ate your lunch. After lunch we put you back in your car seat with Nemo on the portable DVD player and headed home for a nap.
These days you’re sleeping between 1-2 hours and even after you’re awake, you usually refuse to get out of your crib. You love to snuggle up with your blankets and pacifiers and watch us walk by your room, occasionally coming in to check on you and see if you’re ready to get up. When you’re finally ready, we settle back on our bed for your favorite “turtle” movie and enjoy a Kefir pouch.
I tried to tell you that mommy had a baby in her belly. Something we try every few weeks. You did your best to look for the “baby” by lifting up my shirt and finding none. Foiled again.
I didn’t bring the camera with us, but after some time to wake up, we all headed out to WalMart to finish up some last minute Christmas shopping and, quiet frankly, to let you run around. You love pushing the cart, following us around the store, and helping shop. We love your company and the fact that you turn even a shopping trip into entertainment.
After we get home, we clean up a bit and sit down for dinner. You don’t eat too well but that’s ok because you had a good snack while sitting in the cart at WalMart. You do, however, eat almost an entire banana practically in one bite.
After dinner you lounge on the couch with a juice box and your favorite “turtle” movie while mom and dad clean up. At 7 it’s bath time – something we haven’t been adamant about since you seem to fall in and out of love with it.
Today was an “in love” kinda day. Especially since I let you have “nakey” time where you run around in your birthday suit, laughing and screeching through the entire house.
I’m not exactly sure what it is about running around the house without a diaper that you find hilarious (ok…maybe it’s us chasing you, squealing and laughing), but you do. Bath time is now almost always accompanied by bubbles. Your daddy got you into those.
And just like that, it’s bedtime.
You’re usually out of the bath around 7:15 and we take our time getting you dressed and ready for bed.
Ever since you were about 4 months old (and we attempted to take away your pacifier way too early), you’ve had a real obsession with your sleeves at bed times or when you’re upset. You play with them non-stop and have to have the white undershirt sleeves visible at all times. It’s super adorable.
Since we’ve changed up our Pediasure routine, after you’re dressed we hand you a sippy with Pediasure (strawberry one in the evening with some Miralax….to help your digestive system) and read some books. You look forward to this every single evening almost as much as we do. Almost.
3 books later, taking our turns brushing your teeth (you’re still not a fan of us helping you) and it’s 7:30pm which means lights out.
Tomorrow is another day and we can’t wait to spend it with you.
Sweet dreams, our 23 month old.
