I know that I’ve said it about a thousand times before and I will probably say it about a thousand more – second pregnancy for me has been so incredibly different (and in many ways harder) than the first one.
Take these 26 weeks for example – I feel like all 30. I’m starting to be really tired again and even a little nauseous. I’m pretty sure that third trimester isn’t supposed to hit until week 28 but for me it came early.
The thing is that I really don’t want to spend much time complaining because all in all this has been an absolutely wonderful, easy pregnancy, especially when you take some time to read about other people’s experiences. But I guess I was spoiled with Peanut’s even easier pregnancy and if a girl can’t whine about being pregnant, what can she whine about?

I actually took my big girl camera out to show you some pictures this morning. Also unheard of.

That’s my used-to-be-an-innie-but-now-sporting-a-proud-outtie belly button right there. Yup. That’s happening.

- Size of baby: size of an eggplant, 9.2 inches long and 2 lbs in weight
- Total Weight Gain/Loss: 17 pounds
- Movement: The baby is moving around a ton and I think that I might have started experiencing a few Braxton Hicks. If anyone has experience with these, what do they feel like? I get random stomach pains lasting on and off for about an hour at a time with baby moving in between. I wouldn’t say they’re painless though.
- Cravings: No real cravings right now.
- Great Moment this week: Going to Ikea and looking at some big girl room for Peanut and some enhancements for our second little nugget. I can’t believe this is all happening so quickly.

Looking good! Love that dress. I had BH contractions all the time with my 2nd pregnancy. They feel like your whole belly is tightening up. It’s a lot of pressure but it doesn’t feel like a labor contraction, just like your whole belly is hard. Hope that helps. My midwife says that the 2nd pregnancy is the worst.
Oh I love your dress!!! My belly button never popped, it just flattened out! Sorry you’re feeling sick again. The 3rd trimester was just as rough as the first for me. Just remember to take it easy!!!
Cute! Like Liz, yes, whole belly tightening. But I’d almost say that it did feel like my very early contractions when going into labor. Uncomfortable, but not PAINFUL. Though I suppose with BH it was a little more in the front and with real contractions it wrapped all the way around? Maybe? The biggest difference was that with BH you can grab a glass of water, put your feet up, and they’ll ease up.
Looking great! Yup – this is when braxton hicks started for me last year (i was due may 1st). It was definitely painful and i would sometimes get nauseous and dizzy during them they were that intense. They were irratic and would happen sporadically during the day usually for an hour, and more often in the evenings, even 3 minutes apart. It didn’t help much but I was told to drink lots of water and what i found did help was to keep eating even when I felt sick – if I had gone a while without eating -i would get them worse.
They always woke the baby up so she would be kicking around (active babies can also kind of ’cause’ braxton hicks i hear). My stomach would turn rock hard (and usually funny shaped if Alex’s head or butt was in a strange position and my uterus was contracting around her). It wasn’t fun but I survived, they don’t really go away until the birth I was told and mine definitely didn’t. But i did have a quick ‘easy’ labor that i told myself was due to all the practice my uterus got for 3 1/2 months
Have you guys decided on a name yet? Will you be sharing it with us if you have? I didn’t have BH, so I can’t help you there. Sorry! But you look adorable!!
Yesssss…not 100% but we will share it!
I concur – BH just feels like the belly is tight. I knew they were starting for real when the back pain kicked in! Drink lots of water!
Yes, the second time is soooooooo much harder!
You look fantastic! Love that belly!
I’m the queen of Braxton Hicks. They started at 18 weeks with my first, 14 weeks with my 2nd, and 12 weeks with my third. I have what the doctor calls an irritable uterus. They did get progressively worse, and after 30 weeks, they did feel like early labor pains. Not necessarily painful, but uncomfortable. Braxton Hicks usually just cause the front of your uterus to get really tight for a few seconds. They’re not felt all through your midsection like real labor pains are.
I usually get BH after a workout so I try to drink lots of water and put my feet up.
30 weeks for me this weekend. Where is the time going?
I would say mine feel like regular early labor contractions (which to me also feels similar to cramping), just completely irregular and not consistent.
Well, you look great! Hope you’re taking care!
You are an adorable pregnant lady, cute dress too!
You look great!
