Well, the Nemo blizzard of 2013 came and went. Our house had over 25 inches of snow surrounding it and I watched as two of our neighbors with plows got stuck and had to have the rest of the neighbors come by and dig them out. Needless to say this weekend was spent indoors, for the most part. We did get out with P anytime it wasn’t completely terrible out but that was frustrating to everyone since she had about 1 by 10 foot walkway to explore.
I must say that being stuck indoors 6 months pregnant (no excuse to go shovel snow!) with an active two year old has a lot of challenges. And by a lot of challenges I mean imagine a 2 year old going between frustration, hyper active bouncing off the walls, and more frustration. We colored, played with Play-doh, played fetch (yup, that’s what we do with an active two year old who needs to burn off energy), played tea party, played kitchen, played blocks, colored, terrorized the dog, cooked, cleaned, read books, played dinosaurs…the list goes on. I’m crossing my fingers that our daycare is open tomorrow (unlikely since most schools in CT are closed).
On the more positive side, we didn’t lose power (it flickered so much Friday night that Jon and I were holding our breath) and everyone is safe and sound. So all in all it wasn’t too bad.

And here’s what a toddler that hasn’t been out of the house except for about 20 minutes looks like. (If you’re on Vine, a video montage social media app), come follow me! username: mrslltkings)
If you were affected- how’s everything? Did you get a lot of snow? Did you lose power? I can’t imagine what this would be like if we lost power.

She looks like a mini-teen with the messy bun and the cute sweats! (Who I am I kidding – that’s still my weekend attire). Our son J plays fetch with himself. He throws all of his balls over the couch from the living room to the dining room, then goes there and throws them all back in to the living room, over and over and over again…
I love her serious face in that one photo on the floor. Like, “Really, Mom, we’re still playing this? Inside? STILL?” LOL
My parents have pictures of me at about Addison’s age during a huge snowstorm in the late 70s and I always loved looking at those pictures. She’s going to love having these when she’s older.
She’s just so cute!!! And I love the video of Travis running!! I bet he was about to go crazy too!
Her hair color has become so gorgeous! And, oh! I hope you can get out soon!
This was totally us back in December when our town got hit with 14 inches in one day. I thought I was going to go NUTS stuck inside with a 19 month old for 2 days. Plus we were all sick with the stomach flu! It was basically every man for himself at that point. So yeah I know how you feel!!
We only got 18″ of snow and I say only because my parents got 30″-they live south of us, near where you grew up actually. We didn’t lose power this time which was nice, the last few storms we’ve lost our power so we got water and filled the bathtub just in case (we have a well). Hope you are able to get out more tomorrow!
I feel bad for you guys and could understand your pain!! lol we played ball, rode the bike and scooter indoors too, watched LOTs of TV and yea, it was pretty bad. We live in an apartment so we were able to visit neighbors and play in the lobby and laundry room haha.
that sounds creative
Oh gosh, these pictures are hilarious! She is so expressive. I love the one of her and Travis in the snow!
Oh Wow! Look at all that snow! Here in Minnesota, we don’t have much- we got about 5 -9 inches (depending on the area)- I am so jealous of the 20+ inches!! Looks like you guys had a great time playing in the fresh snow!
Yeah I loveeeeeed getting the snow…did NOT love the ice/mess we have now.
Wow! That snow looks crazy! I love it!!! I don’t love so much the idea of staying inside with a 2 year old for 3 days straight… been there, and it’s freaking hard.
you are FAR better at it than me I am sure of it, since I do it so seldom (and still manage to complain)
I thought the same thing about her messy hair and sweats! She looks so cute and old! …I dont know what I would do in that much snow! Its been in the 60′s here this week though we are getting lots of rain! Glad yall didnt lose power and glad you didnt have a freezer full of milk to deal with (although I guess you could have just stuck it outside in the snow to keep cold!) ha!
I wish it was in the 60′s! And yes…I am forever thankful anytime there is a chance of a power outtage and I am NOT storing milk. That storm still gives me nightmares
