When I was contacted by BlogHer for a possible review of Monster headphones, I was thrilled. My husband is a headphone junkie (yeah, it’s a thing…in our household at least) and I was so excited to share these with him. What I didn’t expect is to watch my 2 year old daughter and my 30 year old husband fight over using the headphones.
When we received the headphones in the mail, we were psyched. Side note: do you get all giddy whenever you receive a package? It’s like a thrill – I swear I get an adrenaline rush whenever I see the little cardboard corner sticking out on my front porch as I pull into my driveway. The thing is that lately (2 kids, jobs, second jobs and all) we’ve been ordering almost everything online. Pediasure? Amazon.com. Diapers? Wipes? Amazon.com. Kids need new clothes? Who has time to actually load up two kids and all their belongings into a car and drive over to the outlets? Not these guys. But you know what? There’s a sale on Carters.com so I’ll just order things online. Honestly, I’m thinking about switching to purchasing all my paper products and groceries online too. But what it means is that we have packages waiting for us on our front porch almost every single day (no I do not have a shopping addiction, I swear I’m a very smart shopper). So now, rather than the once-all-consuming rush that I felt when I saw a package on my front porch I feel slightly depressed when there isn’t one. Analyze that one, my friends.
Anyways, the package. We get the box and as I’m opening it, my husband starts inching his way over, looking over my shoulder. As soon as he sees the headphone box, he immediately grabs the box from my hands and starts opening it, throwing whatever he was previously doing on the ground. The excitement of it all isn’t lost on our 2 year old who is now rushing over, curious about what “present” is being opened. Now my 30 year old husband and my 2 year old daughter are practically fighting over opening the box with the brand new, shiny, orange (how cool is that?) headphones.
Looking for a great gift for a man in your life? I’d go with this one.
Long story short, we get the box open and I watch, laughing, as they take turns trying on the headphones (“Addi’s turn…daddy, Addi’s turn…..DADDDDDY! It’s Addi’s turn!”). I have no idea if previously my headphones are now my husband’s or my daughter’s. Within minutes the lawn suddenly needs mowing (he listens to music on his headphones while mowing the lawn). Well, I’m going with, “You win, Monster headphones.”
Once all the excitement died down a bit, I was able to actually try them out and I totally get what all the fighting is about. The sound is incredible. Like, sitting in the middle of the concert hall incredible. And the whining noises of my 2 year old trying to snag them from me are barely audible. Not to mention that when she finally snags them and attempts to put them on (several times), I feel confident that they’ll stand up to it. These things are made so durable, bending every which way. Again, a major win for our household.
And now it’s time for you to get a pair of your own! (for you…the kids….or the husband….or, whomever)
