It’s Friday and I had no Friday Five? No, this time it wasn’t because I was being lazy or uninspired. It was because the most recent storm knocked down the cable in our neighborhood and Jon and I were faced with one of the biggest challenges – what to do when we didn’t have cable and internet.
At first we spent some time trying all the tricks we had up our sleeve:
DVR? Nope, you need cable for that.
Wii Netflix? Nope, you need internet for that.
Watching something on the laptop? Again, no internet.
Pull out the iPad? Not without internet!
Figure out how to turn off the wifi on the iPhone and post to Facebook. Check.
And there the Friday Five post is born…thanks Julie.
1. Cuddle up on the couch and GASP! have a conversation. Usually a glass of wine and some beer help this one along especially when you’re extremely reliant on your cable.
2. Go through the stuff you’ve been putting off for months: sort the mail, address the Christmas cards, delete some old stuff from your computer.
3. Go to bed early and actually get some sleep. After about an hour of looking around for things to do, this one seems like a totally awesome option.
4. Get naughty when you can’t fall asleep because it’s too early. If you need an explanation for what this means, I suggest asking your spouse or significant other. I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to show you in the bedroom. If you’re too young, I’m talking about jumping on the bed.
5. Play angry birds. Okay – I ran out of things to do without cable or internet. I think I need to get some help with my addiction.
What do you do when you don’t have cable or internet?
